A stuntman who has rubbed shoulders with some of Hollywood's leading stars was celebrating today after scooping a £7 million (US$10.5 million) lottery windfall.

Mark Lisbon, 42, who has performed stunts in films such as Tomb Raider, Batman Returns and In The Name Of The Father, has his partner Jane Surtees to thank after she picked the winning numbers in last Wednesday's U.K. Lotto rollover jackpot.

Lisbon, who doubled for Gary Oldman as Sirius Black in the film Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban said the enormity of the prize money has not sunk in.

Lisbon and his partner, Jane Surtees, were speaking at a press conference in Goathland, North Yorkshire, where Mr Lisbon works on the set of Heartbeat as stunt co-ordinator.

"I think both of us feel empty really," he said.

"It is not what you expect, when you actually do hear that news you expect to be jumping for joy — it's not like that."

Surtees added, "It's such a huge thing to take on board."

The couple met on the set of Heartbeat, in which Surtees had minor roles.

Lisbon, who has two sons from a previous relationship, said he intended to carry on working as a stuntman.

He added, "It's Jane's win, not mine. I still have to earn a living."

Lisbon, who lives in Sutton Coldfield but spends most of his time in Yorkshire working on the set of the ITV primetime police drama, revealed that he has also doubled for other famous Hollywood A-listers including Johnny Depp and Robert Downey Jr.

Surtees, who has five children from a previous relationship, said she intended to buy a "new me".

Other priorities on her shopping list included a replacement for her battered Fiesta car and a holiday.

Jokingly she added that lobster and a set of false eyelashes would also be on her shopping list.
She said the £7.5 million windfall would make "a tremendous difference".

"The family are secure now for the rest of their lives. That's the main thing and, boy, are we going to have some fun!"

The couple attended a party at the Inn On The Moor hotel in Goathland on Wednesday evening to celebrate a birthday and a reunion with some of Lisbon's former stunt colleagues.

Surtees revealed that she discovered her enormous win after switching on Teletext the following day to check her Lotto numbers.

Her youngest child Jasmyn, aged seven, saw the numbers on the computer and said, "Have you won some money, Mum?"

After reading the numbers wrongly, she added, "Seven thousand, five hundred pounds. Wow! Can we go to Cadbury World now?"

Surtees said, "I got the children off to school and rang Mark and then Camelot. Mark came round and we sat in a cafe thinking that everybody around us already knew.

"It is unbelievable. Last week I went to a family wedding and was so skint I couldn't even afford to eat anything over than prawn cocktail crisps and pickled eggs in my room. I still can't get my head round it but it is very exciting."

Surtees revealed that she has been playing the Lotto since it started in 1994 and always uses the same numbers which are based on family birthdays and lucky numbers.

"I think positive, I'm optimistic. I always thought we would win, it's everybody's dream."

Wow, she has been playing those numbers for a long time. It makes me think I should play a certain line or two and stick with those same numbers, maybe I would have better luck!

Wow is right!  I've been playing the same numbers since 1994 too.  That was the year I moved to Florida. Glad I read this story. Smiley

However, I don't think it makes any difference, Scary.   Didn't Todd post a story about a man who played the same numbers all the time, but he made a mistake and marked his card incorrectly and won?   It hasn't happened with the big jackpot games, but I've been 1 number off so many times with Fantasy 5 it makes me want to scream!  (and I often do! LOL)

Yeah I think he did post a story. I guess it doesn't matter in the end, you either have the right numbers or not, but sometimes I think maybe I should stick with a certain set and play those each drawing. I've seen your posts where you have done pretty good with your numbers that you play. Don't you play the same lines each drawing for Fantasy 5?

Yes, Scary.  I win small prizes like $10 and I've gotten 4 out of 5 a few times this year (average prize is $100) so I'm even for 2008 with those combinations, but I'm still way behind overall.

I just checked one set of numbers (family birthdays) and I got 3 numbers 7 times in 2008 and 4 numbers 2 times.   Total won in 2008 $358 so far, but keep in mind I play it everyday.

Lucky guy! Congrats!!!!   This is someone I wouldn't wonder why he wanted to keep his job after a big lotto win.

Like many other ordinary people Miss Surtees, a divorced mother-of-five, was feeling the pinch and worrying how she was going to pay her £163 phone bill when the numbers she has faithfully been using for 14 years to play the National Lottery finally came up. She checked the results on Thursday morning on Teletext as she tried to get her youngest children ready for school.

I found this very funny when I read it in the UK Daily Mail. It's nice to know she is "like many other ordinary people"! No blue blood there then?

It's a good thing she did not forget to play her numbers, It would have been a tragedy if she forgot to play her numbers only to have them come up.
