Ticket sold at Thrifty gas station in Tustin

A Daily Derby Lottery ticket worth $651,867 was claimed by a man in his 80s who lives in the Tustin area, according to lottery officials.

The ticket was sold in Tustin over the Labor Day weekend and the prize is the largest this year for Daily Derby, according to Al Lundeen of California Lottery.

The winner chose the three winning horses — Lucky Star in first, Solid Gold in second and Winning Spirit in third — as well as the race time, 1:41.34, for Sunday night's draw.

The last time Lucky Star finished in first was more than 20 races ago, according to Lottery officials.

The ticket was purchased from a Thrifty gas station at 14121 Newport Ave. in Tustin.
