The Chinese lottery player who won the highest sports lottery, 82.34 million yuan (US $11.76 million), in China's lottery history collected his prize on Sunday under police guard.

On Sunday morning, the lottery winner, who calls himself Lao Yang, arrived alone at the lottery center in Chongqing, the country's largest municipality, disguised in a mask, wig, hat and sunglasses.

The lottery center took additional measures to ensure his security. Staff members opened a secret passage for him and contacted the bank, the police and the municipal notaries immediately after his arrival. Security guards also restricted access to the lottery center, the Chongqing Evening News reports.

The center staged a small ceremony for Lao Yang after verifying the authenticity of his ticket and filling out the paperwork. The whole process was supervised by the municipal notaries and policemen. The lottery center staff later showed reporters the valuable lottery ticket.

After taxes, Lao Yang received 65.936 million yuan, or US $9.42 million, in cash. For safety purposes, Lao Yang also asked for a police escort to deposit the money at his bank.

Lao Yang exercised caution while answering reporters' questions. He said that his wife still has no idea that he won the lottery, and even he can't believe his luck. He says he plans to invest the money in his business.

I think it is great that in China you can get help like this when you win big. My wife and I play every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. So far no luck. The thing is that the "shaung se qiu"  game has 1-33/ 1-16 and you can play the same numbers 1 to ? times and win multiple times 5,000,000 yuan. It's not para-mutual. I wish him all the luck!

Considering how the press stalks winners to dig dirt, report innuendo as tragic news looks like it could be.

The press created a recession for the US so lottery winners are only a bump in the road.

BTW, congratulations to the winner, best wishes to them and their family!  Party

I know that when I win I'll be donning a disguise too, a good one. I've pretty much came up with a character to protray, the only problem is that it'll be pretty much pointless  if my name gets released, at least at a local level. Then there's the issue with someone who knows your name going and typing it into a search engine and finding all the articles where you're mentioned in. With my name it'd be hard to just say it was someone else.... I wish I had a lastname like Jones or Smith. Maybe changing it would be a good idea..

It's a trend that I can agree with. I can see why so many people want to disguise themselves from the public. It seems more and more people just want to enjoy there winnings and not have to worry about people hounding them, which is bound to happen if you win a large sum of money.

this is the ONLY WAY to claim if you have to 'show up' - New Jersey is all about disclosure but this is one of those times I am ACTIVELY SEEKING OUT that one very crooked lawyer, that always reads the fine fine print and can play with words - basically, I don't want my name EVER disclosed - if he can assure me that, I don't mind paying him every year that my name stays OUT of sight [and I have one of those 'one of a kind' names [literally, no one else has my combo in the world] and if you know me, then you know me and that's not going to work for me - so, IF THEY INSIST I must come, then my name cannot be used and I will be the shortie in the ms.piggy costume - I'll have to convince hubby to don the kermit one so we can match

Love
