Officials at the Minnesota State Lottery headquarters said today they have heard from someone who claims to be holding the winning Powerball ticket from Saturday's drawing that's worth $180.1 million.

But nothing is official until that person comes forward and presents the ticket for certification at the lottery's Roseville office, a lottery spokeswoman said.

That's not likely to happen today, but it could happen this week. "We are eager to find out," she said.

Lottery officials confirmed Sunday that a ticket sold in Rice County matched the numbers 2, 28, 36, 42 and 46 and the Powerball 40.

The apparent winner has up to one year to redeem the largest winning Powerball ticket ever sold in Minnesota and become the 20th Powerball jackpot winner in the state since the game began in 1992.

The holder of the winning ticket will have the choice to take the 29-year, 30-installment annuity, or the one-time cash "lump sum" payment of $88 million, or $59.6 million after taxes, Powerball officials said.
The last Minnesota Powerball winner was in Nov. 2006 when Michael Hawes of Lakeville won a $94.1 million jackpot that he split with another winner from Arizona.

The state also has produced six jackpot winners in Lotto America, the predecessor to Powerball, which is now played in 29 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Depending on their health, he/she will have plenty of time to think about what to do before making a claim.

It'll be interesting if they'll come forward quickly or take a week or two to possibly get their things in order.

Got to be a great feeling to win $180 million!  I can't even count that high.   I would be making a shopping list now and ordering some good food for dinner if it was me! oh hum, back to dream land for me.

Dear Winner, PLEASE Stimulate the economy!!!! but please DON'T buy up all the gas and consider the Tesla electric sports car (only $100K) unless there's such thing as a Hybrid Hummer?? Cadillac makes a hybrid Escalade now. If I win the 1st thing I'd get is an electric or hybrid..and a home close to where everything is. Please save some gas so those of us who haven't won yet have a few dollars left after paying for gas to buy 1 or 2 Mega or PB tickets! I didn't even play the last drawing because I'm trying to cut down on gas demand. If I could legally play online I would.

The odds are 175whatever to one only if you buy only one ticket for one drawing ever, othewise they're much lower!

I saw that car a coupld months ago, I'd be interested in it but I'd prefer to wait until the next version comes out (not like you'd have much choices considering the waiting list) and hopefully improve upon the technology, especially when it comes to battery life and weight. I think first though I'd buy a hybrid that was assembled in the USA.
