A Delta flight attendant can fly the friendly skies as a new millionaire.

Kristen Diloreto of Cumming won $1 million playing the Georgia Lottery instant game Georgia's $500 Million Club.

The 40-year-old mother of three purchased the winning ticket at The Publix at 3480 Keith Bridge Road in Cumming. She scratched it in the car.

"I was thrilled," she said. "I took the ticket back to the store manager, and we both looked at each other in disbelief."

Diloreto and her husband, Steve, will consider taking a family vacation; otherwise, they have no immediate plans for their winnings.

"I can't believe it's real," she exclaimed. "I feel like I'm an actress in a Georgia Lottery commercial."

For sure.  Haven't flown on Delta in 20 or so years and I still remember how silly it was to be able to get only 1 pack of peanuts back then.No Nod

IMO a person who wins a $1M lottery prize isn't really a millionaire as many of these $1M scratch games are annuitized amounts ($1M paid out over 10-20 years isn't the same as $1M in today's dollars), and in the cases where they are cash value, the winner has anywhere from 25 - 35% deducted for taxes.  So it just irks me when all these different state lotteries make that claim in regards to their scratch-if games.

Now I did see one state that is has offered a $1M taxes paid scratch-if game...they can make the claim that their winner is indeed a millionaire.
