The New Mexico Lottery last week introduced a new scratch game that is certain to be a hot gift item for lottery players this holiday season.
A scented Scratcher game from the New Mexico Lottery is available now to holiday shoppers seeking fun surprises for stocking stuffers, hostess gifts, greeting cards and those ever-practical and predictable presents of sweat socks and underwear.
The peppermint-scented "Candy Cane Magic" conceals 10 numbers under images of red-and-white candy mints.
The fragrant game is priced at $2. It's one of three holiday Scratcher games featuring top prizes of $1,000, $15,000 and $65,000.
New Year's Eve Raffle
On Dec. 31, the lottery will draw winning numbers for the New Year's Eve Raffle, which offers prizes totaling $625,000. With only 125,000 tickets in the game, players have the best odds ever to win one of the four top prizes of $125,000 each. A raffle ticket is priced at $10.
Scratchers and New Year's Eve Raffle tickets are featured in the lottery's holiday gift guide at www.nmlottery.com.
Todd - you and the other readers may get a chuckle out of this.
When they started up in New Mexico, they had a bunch of different bumper stickers. One said "Start each day with a good Scratch!". Little old ladies raised such a fuss they got rid of the bumper stickers.
The really do up Christmas big-time in NM. Its good to see the Lottery trying something a little new - although I believe they've always had a Christmas-oriented scratch game each year.
I'm just a little jealous they don't have one like that in nj or PA, that I know of. Maybe even better make one that smells like a rose when you win and like a skunk when you lose! (although that may lead to crooked store agents pre-sniffing them!)

I love giving scratch games as gifts; this is a great idea. I look forward to seeing what the lotteries come up with every Christmas.

I just hope nobody gets really plastered on the holidays and tries to eat one. It could turn out to be the most expensive meal of his life!
Last week my husband and I were sniffing crazy over the peppermint ones in VA. They smelled so good.
