Update: (Sep. 17, 2007, 11:15 am) Correction of Sen. Kyle's office number.

Editor: Lottery Post urges its readers to immediately contact Sen. Kyle at (615) 741-4167 to let him know what you think of computerized drawings in the state of Tennessee, and that you want real lottery drawings reinstated.  Ask Sen. Kyle to visit www.lotterypost.com to see for himself what players are saying about computerized drawings and the lottery.

Citing concerns that recent operational missteps could damage consumer confidence in the Tennessee Education Lottery, Democratic Leader Sen. Jim Kyle today called for a meeting of the General Assembly's Lottery Oversight Committee to be convened as soon as possible.

In a letter to House Speaker Jimmy Naifeh and Senate Speaker Ron Ramsey, Kyle wrote, "Now that so many Tennesseans depend on lottery funds for higher education, it would be irresponsible for the legislature to allow any ambiguity or loss of confidence in the lottery process."

The Nashville Tennessean reported today that the lottery will have to issue refunds to some Powerball players after Lotto 5, Cash 3, and Cash 4 tickets listed the jackpot for last Wednesday's Powerball as $29 million. The jackpot was actually $15 million. Last month, the lottery was forced to issue refunds after a computer glitch prevented the drawing of duplicate numbers for Cash 3 and Cash 4.

"If lottery players can't be sure that the games are being run properly and fairly, they'll simply quit buying tickets," Kyle said. "If lottery players stop buying tickets, then we aren't raising money to educate our kids. That's the bottom line here."

To contact Sen. Kyle, call (615) 741-4167.

It doesn't get much better than this a top official is on the case i believe Ron is the Lieutenant Governor of Tennessee.

I'll also look and see if there is a email address we can send to. Lets get the real live mechanical ball drawings back in action and do away with computerized drawings.

Thanks for posting . I will place a call, even if I don't live in the state. If the TEL  can be forced to go back to balls and the elected officials can do this, the people of Tn will be the winners!!! I mentioned in an early post, for local citizens to contact thier elected officals. That's what they are elected to do.

Will be making the call, after I talk to my friends there.  This is great to have an elected official saying without the lottery there is no funding for education. This is definately a start...
