The Megabucks prize for Wednesday's draw has surpassed recent record levels, with a current (annuitized) jackpot of $8,900.000. The last time the Megabucks jackpot exceeded $8.9 million was 14 years ago — in July of 1993.

Between December 2006 and January 2007, Vermont had three Megabucks winners in a row, winning jackpots of $500,000, $950,000 and $4.5 million. To date, there have been 75 winning Megabucks jackpot tickets sold in Vermont since the game began in 1985.

The highest jackpot to date was $16.4 million in January 1992.

"This is one of the larger jackpots offered in the 22-year history of the Megabucks game and it is currently the 7th largest jackpot offered across the United States," said Alan Yandow, Executive Director of the Vermont Lottery Commission.

Additionally, Wednesday's Powerball jackpot now stands at $105 million.

Megabucks is a multi-state game, offered in Vermont, Maine, and New Hampshire.  The three state lotteries operate all of their local online games together, with each game called a "tri-state" game.

Vermont lottery games are sold at almost 700 locations throughout the state.
