New Jersey Lottery

Time is running out to claim a New Jersey lottery ticket worth $19 million.

The person who has the single winning ticket for last year's April 24 Pick 6 Lotto drawing has until Tuesday to claim the prize, lottery officials said.

The ticket, with winning numbers 05-24-27-28-33-37, was sold at a 24 Seven convenience store in Newark last year. The store received $2,000 for selling the winning ticket, according to NJ Lottery spokesman Dominick DeMarco.

But there has been "no movement whatsoever" in claiming the prize, DeMarco said, and there are no exceptions to the rule that requires prizes to be claimed within a year of the drawing.

DeMarco said whoever has the winning ticket can take it to lottery headquarters in Trenton by the end of business Tuesday or get it validated at a retailer, where the person can fill out a claim form, before midnight that night.

"We would hope that they would look before then," he said.

If no one comes forward, most of the winnings would be used to benefit education and institutions, DeMarco said, with the rest of it going to support special lottery prize offerings.

And i am here asking for only 1 million dollars....

I heard the store received 2,000 dollars only? Here in Georgia the store gets 25,000 for selling the winning ticket... MY gosh this people are so stingy....

It hurts me to see that they willing to charge 50 dollars for a raffle ticket, and yet they're not willing to give the winning tickets no one claims and form a sweepstakes...They could have use 19 million dollars and break it down into 19 1-million dollars and give it out as sweepstakes...

I have said it before.

This is another case where if lottery tickets had your ID in the computer for that ticket the lottery could contact you. Having your ID in the computer for the ticket should be proof enough if you lost the ticket.

At least have it on a voluntary basis if you do not like the idea.

Looks like someones 19 mil down the toilet.

That's insane. I take care of my lottery tickets as if it were actual money. The person who won the 19 Mill could be retired by now, but nope.

MAYBE THE PERSON die or something wrong . that is just too too much money to let go just like that?????????????????I Agree!

OK, I give up, where do I get this Exact Order Wheeler for STR/BOX and how much is the vig to use it? Anyway, again, I don't go to Newark to play Lotto, or even to play tiddlywinks, being that no offense but it's a little dangerous there not to mention overcrowded and congested. I can't even find this TWENTY7FOUR store or whatever on the Google satellite maps. My friend has a stack of unchecked tickets but it's a slim chance they played in Newark at that time at that store. I know someone indirectly who won the 6 recently which I thought was this one but apparently not. It makes me crazy that they suddenly tell us days before the deadline, when they could have said something early on when there was a better chance of finding the ticket. By now if it were dropped it would have long been eaten by a snowblower and the ink washed off etc. Was the store afraid people would dig around their Dumpsters OR is the Lottery afraid that someone will claim the prize when they want to keep it themselves? If it were somewhere safer I'd have gone looking for it myself. Anyone I ask says they don't remember playing there at that time and that "geez, that was a year ago, I can't remember that far back!" And most of the time you could go on the njlottery site and guess what it says "There are no unclaimed prizes, SORRY!~"

Not a bad idea, JAP69, although it isn't the state's responsibility to notify the winner.  I just don't know if I'd want to furnish my personal information and it would also inconvenience the retailers who are mainly convenience stores.

On the other hand, it would be good PR for the retailer to keep that information for its customers.

Their's still time for the Lucky Lottery Player who bought the Winning Lottery Ticket at the "24 Seven" convenience store in "Newark, NJ" to come forward and Claim their Prize.

Come on people, why does no one state the obvious. The people who run the lottery don't want winners. They are business. Nuff said, eh?What?

The thing that agrivates me the most is that none of this money will go back to the players once it's not claimed. The person must have misplaced the ticket or never bothered checking or died of a heart attack. Either way they aren't getting the money. In Canada and most other countries the prize money would go back to players in the form of a higher jackpot. I'm sure the politicians here are too stupid and greedy to let that happen.

I saw a show once where they were looking for a lottery winner, and they played the video of the person buying the ticket.   I don't believe for a minute that  a Newark NJ convenience store doesn't have surveillence cameras.

that is a good idea bambini but i guess some people would be worried that the wrong people recognize them and bug them for money or try to rob them but i would rather have my identity revealed on the evening news from security camera footage if that is the only way they can contact me that i won 19 million dollars...Dance

 I Agree!

I'm usually very private and I hate being photographed (however, they made me do it when I got my driver's license. lol)  But if I won $19 million and forgot about it, I wouldn't care if they showed a picture of me on the toilet on the 6:00 news asking  "Does anyone know this woman?"

..................Any state loves an "unclaimed" multi-million dollar  state jackpot......NJ has been in fiscal crisis for the past few years.....19million isn't much in a state budget, but it certainly will help to line some pockets along the way....

I found that the first thing I MUST do now is to get on the internet, check for winner tickets and ESPECIALLY, their purchased locations!!! No and, but, or if's about it......If the location I played is not a big "HIT" spot, I'll check the tickets later, but without a rush!!!.......

I remember a story of this elderly woman, who played the exact same numbers for years and years, so when her finally played, she was absolutely sure those were her "state lottery" numbers, but the winning ticket had "disappeared"..... and it stayed "disappeared" almost up into the 11th hour that it was to expire - and then, low and behold the ticket had  miraculously "popped" up, right before the 12th hour......there was a strong debate in my household that her "family" had taken the ticket and hidden it from her............she got to claim the jackpot and ironically enough, she  "DIED"  less than 2 months later.................TRAGIC
