Kathryn Densborn of Indianapolis, a Republican who lost in her bid to oust Democratic state Rep. David Orentlicher in the November election, will begin work at the agency next week and will take over as director in January.
Densborn formerly worked as the legislative liaison and public information officer for the state Department of Local Government Finance. From 1998 to 2005, she worked for the St. Luke Catholic Church in communications and development. She earned a business degree from Indiana University.
Gov. Mitch Daniels announced her appointment late Thursday.
"The lottery is a unique entity, and Kathryn has the right mix of skills to lead it," Daniels said.
Densborn replaces Esther Schneider, who has resigned and will leave the job in mid-January.
"Esther told me in the fall that it was her intention to step down early next year," said Daniels. "She made needed changes to restore confidence to state lottery operations, and she just finished leading the lottery to a record financial return. We're grateful for her service."
The Lottery reported in November that it returned a record $218 million to the state for Fiscal Year 2006. The amount surpassed the previous profit mark of $204 in FY99.

I am no longer a participating member here at Lottery Post but I do want to comment on this story. Hoosier Lottery Esther Schnieder is currently under investigation by The Indiana Inspector General's office for ethics violations. The charges include...among other things...paying prizes to holders of "expired" tickets to the now defunct Hoosier Millionaire game.

(IMHO she has made the situation here in Indiana much worse [if you can believe that] than it already was.)

She reduced the amount of the Hooosier Lottery's cash payout from what was suppossed to be the actual amount of cash in the prize pool to a flat 40% cash payout. She also institutated a policy of not rolling over the Hoosier Lottery's Lotto game for the first 2 draws even if ther was no winner. In other words the jackpot stayed the same if no one won the first 2 draws regardles of the number of tickets sold or the amount of prize money accumulated.
I corresponded with Ms Schneider a couple of times by e-mail. She was not responsive to my concerns and was less than forthcoming in her answers. Indeed I found her to be quite confrontational

I assume Hoosier Lotto's annuity is 30 equal payments (unlike PB's graduated annuity.) That should make the actual cash value percentage HIGHER than in Powerball.
