Mega Millions

The jackpot in the multi-state Mega Millions lottery grew to $42 million Saturday.

None of the tickets sold for Friday's $31 million drawing matched all five lotto numbers and the Mega Ball. The next drawing will be Tuesday.

There were seven second-prize winners from Friday night's drawing: 2 from California, 2 from New York, 1 from Ohio, 1 from Texas, and 1 from Washington.  Each ticket matched all five lotto numbers but not the Mega Ball number to win $250,000.

The California second-prize winners will each receive $303,809, because California awards prizes based on the number of winners and the amount of sales, rather than the fixed prize amounts offered by the other Mega Millions states.

Also, 21 tickets matched four of the five lotto numbers, plus the Mega Ball number. Those tickets are each worth $10,000.  In California those tickets are worth $7,753.

The winning numbers from Friday's drawing were: 4, 17, 18, 51, and 54. The Mega Ball number was 31.

The Texas Megaplier was 4.

I think I will be taking that $42 million on wednesday off of the Mega Millions hands.  I would not want them to be burdened by the jackpot any more.-weshar75
