Powerball

The answer to a multi-million dollar mystery has been revealed.

For nearly three weeks Americans have been wondering who in Oregon won the $340 million dollar Powerball jackpot drawn on October 19.

Well, now we know it was Steve and Carolyn West and Frances and Bob Cheney of Jacksonville, Ore. The two couples are splitting the largest Powerball jackpot in history.

And it's staying all in the family, Frances and Bob are Carolyn's parents and the first to realize they'd won.

"That night, I got on the internet and was checking the numbers and at first I checked the Powerball and saw that it was 29 and thought, good at least we got $5 back and then I was checking the others and I just could not believe we had all five," said Frances.

Steve says he and his wife almost missed out because of him, "I had told my wife, you know, don't buy any tickets. We never win at that, let's go up to 7 Feathers and play some blackjack and have a good evening. She has a mind of her own though and she decided 'hey, I'm going to buy tickets.' She whispered to her dad and mom, 'go ahead, we'll go in with you,' and the rest is history."

The Cheney's haven't said how many tickets they bought for the record jackpot, but all it took was one.

The couples will officially cash in their ticket on Tuesday and lottery officials will present them with their check.

Bob isn't waiting though, he's already bought a Hummer.

It's about time. I'm happy that two couples decide to share the money instead of the West family claiming the whole jackpot. I hope the two couples don't flop like the Whittakers did in 2002.

Chewie

Why didn't they tell every one where they are hiding the ticket?

Editgap

I thought they were oblivious to the lottery game, I guess not.

The stories that they've been sharing about playing the lotto always change. It seems they just say whatever pops into their heads.

Chewie

Its going to be a story that goes on and on.  They are just not the type to go away.  Unlike the NJ couple who won the MM.

Chewie, how insightful.  I agree, they don't appear to want to live happily ever after.  They are like the football player T.O. Terrell Owens, looking for the next camera, anchor, microphone.  Before they wake up and smell the coffee, they'll also be like T.O.  up the creek without a paddle.

STAY AWAY FROM THE T.V.'s and MICROPHONES it is detrimental to your health and lasting peace.

I don't think Jack's wife "blew" any money. Only him.
