The winning ticket for Saturday's $1.75 million Hot Lotto jackpot was purchased at a Kanawha County convenience store, according to West Virginia lottery officials.

The ticket was sold at a 7-Eleven on Second Avenue in South Charleston, lottery spokeswoman Nancy Bulla said Sunday. It is West Virginia's first Hot Lotto jackpot.

The winning numbers were 13, 21, 25, 30, 31 and Hot Ball 18.

Hot Lotto tickets are sold in Iowa, Minnesota, Montana, New Hampshire, North Dakota, South Dakota, West Virginia and District of Columbia. Chances of winning the jackpot are one in about 11 million.

The winner will have 60 days to decide whether to take the $1.75 million jackpot over 25 annual payments or to a $1.07 cash payment before taxes.

Bulla advised the jackpot winner to "sign the back of the ticket, put it in a safe place, and call the Lottery as soon as possible."

The 7-Eleven store will receive a $100,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

Doesn't make me want to play. $500,000 (cash after taxes) is not worth those odds. I'll stick with the Match 6 here in PA.

Don't ya love the phrase "before taxes" - 25% for the feds up front. 6.5% for the state up front. (Maybe the city will get some, maybe the county will get some.) Then comes the end of the year and the tax man starts all over again with income taxes. I gotta wonder how much is left on April 16th of next year!

I still think more MUSL members should be selling Hot Lotto.

I moved to NH from MA this year.  I've started playing NH's games (such as Hot Lotto) even though they don't impress me as much as the Mass. games.  Heads or Tails was their version of Mass Cash, but only paid $50k instead of $100k -- Then it got cancelled recently (I wonder why)!  I agree about the Hot Lotto jackpots, but I decided that if I won and ended up with about $500k, at least I could buy my dream house with it.

Something else that is peculiar about the NH games -- They have 3 game drawings on Wednesdays & Saturdays (Hot Lotto, Megabucks & Powerball), but no games on Mondays & Thursdays (exluding the daily number).  I think they should move Hot Lotto to Mon. & Thurs.  The new "Triple Play" (which replaced Heads or Tails) is on Tuesdays & Fridays.

I've said that HL should be drawn on different nights than PB.
