Insider Buzz Tennessee lottery president Rebecca Paul was inducted into the Lottery Industry Hall of Fame Tuesday.

Paul is one of 11 people slated for induction during the 2005 International Lottery and Gaming Expo being held through Thursday in Las Vegas. The awards are made by the Public Gaming Research Institute.

Paul was hired in 2003 to start Tennessee's state lottery. It was the fourth state lottery she has headed and the third she has launched.

"We are privileged to have Rebecca at the helm of our educational fundraising efforts and offer her our warmest congratulations," Tennessee Lottery Chairman Dennis Bottorff said in a statement.

Tennessee's first lottery tickets went on sale in January 2004. The lottery has raised $291 million for college scholarships and other education programs.

Congrats to Mrs. Paul for her outstanding work.  She has done a lot.  GA and TN are great lottery Corps and she did a great job getting them both off the ground.  I'm really surprised she isn't in the hall of fame already.

Maybe Texas should steal her away.

Of course award presentations are a dime a dozen.  Every industry you can name gives awards for something just to get free publicity.  I was in the news business for 29 years so I speak from experience.

Just call me a cynic, if you must.  Twenty years writing advertising will make anyone a cynic.

That's my biggest fear.  TN has given her a lot of crap in her time here so far.  The TN lottery isn't ready for her to leave as of yet.
