A couple from Seymour, Connecticut has claimed Saturday's $59.5 million Powerball jackpot.

Christopher and Lucille Ewen of Seymour were introduced Wednesday at a news conference at lottery headquarters. Their prize is the largest in the 33-year-old history of the Connecticut State Lottery.

Christopher Ewen said he was out of town for the weekend and didn't check his lottery tickets until Tuesday. The electronic hardware salesman said he's already told a fishing buddy to sell his small boat because he is going to buy a larger one.

"The only thing I'm going to change is my fishing habits," he told reporters.

Ewen said he bought the winning Quick Pick ticket last Friday at a Shop Smart convenience store in Seymour. The retailer will receive $100,000.

The winning numbers drawn Saturday were: 7-28-31-32-40, Powerball 14, Power Play: 2. There were nearly 17,000 winning Powerball tickets sold in Connecticut for Saturday's drawing and the winnings ranged from $3 to the $59.5 million jackpot.

The winning ticket was drawn eight years to the day since the last time a Connecticut resident won the Powerball jackpot. A New Britain resident shared an $8 million jackpot on June 25, 1997.

Powerball is played in Connecticut and 26 other U.S. states, the District of Columbia and the Virgin Islands. The largest Powerball jackpot ever won by a single-ticket holder was $314.9 million by a West Virginia man on Christmas Day 2002.

I guess it helps if you're not desperate to win and already content.

I saw the couple on the news this morning and they both said they're quitting their jobs.  Normal, smart people in my book!

LOL. I laagh at that also. Actaully one lady, an eldery woman, got me upset. She won 28 million in CT state Lottery. Not one million, 28 million, so get this. She says I'm going to buy a new set of tires for my car! I was like, WHAT??? LOL. That was that most foolish I ever read from a lottery winner. New tires with 28 million, not a new car. I think everyone of us that is honest with ourselves will buy, at minimum a new car, maybe not all of us will buy a Benz but a new car. I mean really, new tires. I personally won't buy some expense Benz, but a new car most likely. Now before any of you say it I understand some people are frugal due to difficult times in their lives but with kind of money I think its unwise not to buy a new car rather than repair an old one. Anyway funny stuff.. Cheers
