Pam and John Baur were thrilled when they thought they had won $130,000 from the Missouri Lottery.
Imagine how they felt when they added another zero to the total.
The St. Louis couple went to the Lottery office in St. Louis April 20 to claim what they thought was a $130,000 prize. In fact, the had won $1.3 million in the April 9 drawing.
"When I saw the $1.3 million on the (terminal), I told John, 'we missed a zero,'" Baur said. "He looked at the machine and then at me and just grinned."
Baur bought her winning ticket at a south city QuikTrip store. She used Quick Pick to select her winning numbers: 13, 14, 15, 17, 39 and 42.
Baur's ticket was the third winning jackpot ticket sold by the same store. Dan and Elizabeth Greenwood purchased a winning $4.4 million Lotto ticket there in 1995. George and Mary Hendel purchased their $1.6 million Lotto ticket at the same store in 1996.
The Baurs, both retired, have not decided how to spend the winnings.
I like those kind of surprises.
me too!
my luck would be that they would remove 2 (or more) zero's
First they have to choose cash or annuity...hmmm, they're retired...
i know they are happy.....
And they were already happy when they thought they had won $ 130.000... (who wouldn't)
Three tickets at same store is quite shocking.
yep some stores are luckier than others....
some might never have a winner on the bigger jackpot games.....
out of the way stores seem to do good.....
