Mass. Lottery to hire consultant for games being planned

Massachusetts Lottery

Massachusetts State Lottery officials said they intend to hire a consultant to evaluate the financial impact of several gambling games under consideration, including a virtual horse-racing game run on Keno-style monitors.

State lawmakers last week raised concerns about the game's impact on the live and simulcast horse-racing industry.

Lottery officials said the consultant, expected to issue a report by midsummer, will analyze how the horse-racing game and other games still on the drawing board would affect revenue to cities and towns.

The horse-racing game is scheduled to launch in November or December.

i wonder if mass. players like these ideas.....

interesting, all i know is what i hear from the people and i have never heard of one 12 out of 12 winner for keno, in Massachusetts. the game has been out for years and with draws every 5-10 minutes, you would think by now that someone would of won the million dollars. With the numbers being drawn by computer and rigged as most of us would say, knowing that the computer knows everyone's combo's and spits out the numbers so the state can get their fair share of $$. so hire the consultant the state will get the suckers who fall for keno day after day in the stores while we all wait in line for other things, lottery too and they cut in line because they are afraid the 5 minutes will be up before they can get their numbers in. The horse racing idea is a great one because they will pull in the track people from Mass, who can not resist playing the horses, even though its rigged and its on the keno style tv's. Bottom line, forget the cities and towns the state lottery will rake in the $$ and the cities and towns will complain about not getting enough money promised. I may seem negative, but i see this day in and day out about the Mass Lottery, listening to the radio commercials about giving to the cities and towns, and never hearing about the big dollars won in keno. The horse racing is just another way to suck in the masses, for which us in Mass will be sucked right in to this too. Also the reason why casino's will never be in Mass, because the lottery will suffer, they know it, unless they are allowed to run it. In my opinion the Lottery has a lot of pull of what goes on in Mass.

5 minute keno games should have their own game rooms in each town for players to do their work.
It is a fast paced game and stores are not the place for keno.
I played quick draw in N.Y. but in a store. You need tellers to take care of keno every minute.

the clerks would be going crazy trying to keep up...

i usually don't mind waiting for the keno people to go ahead of me personally, given the short amount of time that they get to figure their numbers and then play them is really fast. funny though i have heard a few times where someone didn't get their number in and all of their numbers came out. i don't have anything against the keno game, its just that i can't believe that so many people get sucked in to the computer drawing games. the computer knows. if mega mill ever goes computer, i will quit playing it because its hard enough to hit with only one person hitting once every how many months? then the jackpot would go as far as the computer says it will go, or the person says. i feel bad when i hear about the states who have computer drawings and the people who love to play the lottery have to deal with the game on the states terms and the states rules. i wish like a lot of people that there was like 50 million dollar winners and not one for a great jackpot amount. take care and this website is great for my source of lottery info.
