A single mother has walked off with a £9 million lotto win after a clairvoyant said she would have a "big win".

Divorced mother-of-one Sharon Creighton was told in a letter from the medium that she was due "a big win" just weeks before winning last Saturday's rollover National Lottery jackpot.

Mrs Creighton, 40, told a press conference today: "The clairvoyant that sent me a letter did say I'd have one big win and in the future have two smaller wins.

"That was about a month ago.

"It was in letters that I got through the post, it came out of the blue.

"I was quite shocked when I read that but the letter went in the bin."

The divorcee, who has a 16-month-old son, said her newfound wealth would allow her to visit her brother Andrew and his family who are emigrating to Australia next month.

Mrs Creighton, who lives with her mother Betty and James in a three-bed end-of-terrace house in Stevenage, Herts, said she planned to trade in her five-year-old Vauxhall Astra for a brand new Mercedes sports car and move up in the world to a new luxury home.

She said that the early years of her life as a single mother following her divorce had been difficult.

The warehouse assistant for the John Lewis chain has already quit her job but admitted she asked a friend make the call as she was too scared.
